Registration Reopened: Robert Pape & Jeff Currie Live
Zoom Expanded Our Capacity—Registration Closes Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ET
When registration filled earlier today, I closed enrollment for Sunday’s Global Brief Live discussion with Jeff Currie.
This evening, however, Zoom expanded our webinar capacity.
As a result, I have reopened registration for a limited time.
Registration will close again at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, July 19, so we can finalize the attendee list and prepare the webinar before we go live.
If you wanted to attend but found registration closed, you now have one more opportunity.

How the Iran War Is Reshaping the Global Economy—and the Future of Globalization
Sunday, July 19
2:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Private Zoom Webinar (Annual Subscribers Only)
This week’s Houthi attacks did more than threaten another shipping lane in the Red Sea. They raised the possibility that the Iran war is entering a new phase—one that could reshape global trade, energy markets, and the future of globalization itself. Iran’s attack on Kuwait’s desalination plant only reinforces the risk to critical infrastructure.
Jeff Currie is one of the world’s foremost commodity strategists. During nearly three decades as Global Head of Commodities Research at Goldman Sachs, he helped shape how governments, investors, and major institutions understood commodity markets through the 2008 oil shock, the shale revolution, COVID, and the Russia-Ukraine energy crisis. Today he serves as Chief Strategy Officer of Energy Pathways at Carlyle and chairs the advisory group of the University of Chicago’s Energy Policy Institute (EPIC).
Following the outbreak of the Iran war, Jeff warned that global oil supply chains could face months-long disruption and argued that even releasing strategic petroleum reserves would not offset a prolonged loss of crude moving through the Strait of Hormuz.
Together, we’ll examine whether the Iran war is becoming more than a conflict over Hormuz—and whether it marks the beginning of a new phase in the restructuring of globalization, international energy markets, and the balance of power.
I’ll explain why I believe the political incentives driving Tehran, Washington, Jerusalem, and their regional allies increasingly point toward further escalation rather than compromise.
Jeff will assess what those political dynamics mean for oil, LNG, shipping, inventories, insurance markets, inflation, and the broader global economy.
Following approximately 30 minutes of discussion, we’ll devote another 30 minutes to answering your questions live.
As with every Global Brief Live event, everyone who registers will receive a recording, so you can watch whenever it is convenient.

Looking Ahead
Annual subscribers receive access not only to this discussion but to every future Global Brief Live conversation.
Following the tremendous response to my discussion with Kurt Campbell—and the extraordinary interest in Sunday’s event—I expect to continue holding these sessions approximately every two weeks for the foreseeable future, bringing together senior policymakers, military leaders, investors, economists, business leaders, and scholars to discuss the strategic developments reshaping today’s world.
My goal is to make Global Brief Live one of the defining benefits of an annual subscription—not simply to understand events after they happen, but to understand the strategic forces driving what comes next.
I look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday.
Robert Pape
